Engineers Without Borders |
For the 800 million people who
go hungry each day and the one billion who lack access to clean water, poverty is an absence of opportunity. Engineers Without
Borders responds to this need, helping people in developing communities gain access to technologies that will improve their
lives. We believe that technology, when appropriately incorporated into each community's social, cultural, economic and political
context, can drive extraordinary change. |

Summerworks Theatre Festival |
In 1991, five friends came together
to put on the first SummerWorks Festival. The decision to mount a new fringe-style festival was a response to what was seen
as a growing, under-represented small theatre community. Having grown significantly, SummerWorks supports work that has a
clear artistic vision and explores a specific theatrical aesthetic. It encourages risk, questions, and creative exploration
while insisting on accessibility, integrity and professionalism. SummerWorks is the place where dedicated, professional artists
are free to explore new territory and take artistic risks. Rather than getting larger, we strive to get better. We look to
introduce professional artists from diverse communities to each other and be inspired by our similarities and differences. |

Conservative Party of Ontario |
Among the principles
that guide the Conservative Party are: A balance between fiscal accountability, progressive social policy and individual rights
and responsibilities; Develop a coalition, embracing our differences and respecting our traditions, yet honoring a concept
of Canada as the greater sum of strong parts; A belief that the greatest potential for achieving social and economic objectives
is under a global trading regime that is free and fair. |

Green Party of Ontario |
The Green Party
is an important component of the larger green movement; we are the movement's electoral wing. Every social movement needs
and wants an electoral wing. Any gains by movement politics can easily be rolled back unless governments entrench them in
constitutions and legislation. The Green Party must be strong and successful if the green movement is to achieve and solidify
its goals. Our policy must reflect the beliefs of the movement and ensuring that those issues demand attention at the polls. |

The Real News is the brainchild of former CBC producer Paul Jay. The Real News will investigate, report and debate
stories that help us understand the critical issues of our time. We won’t blindly follow wire services or official press
releases that attempt to set the news agenda. We will cover the big stories of the day, but we will broaden the definition
of what’s important. The movements for the rights of working people, women, children, immigrants, indigenous peoples,
for freedom of religion and conscience, for moral and spiritual values and for peace and against racism—are news. The
health of our planet will be a story day after day. The Real News will give important stories the attention and sense of urgency
they deserve. |

[Murmur] Toronto |
[murmur] believes interesting things don't just happen
at the Rogers Centre and Nathan Phillips Square -- the city is full of stories, and some of them happen in parking lots and
bungalows, diners and front lawns. The smallest, greyest or most nondescript building can be transformed by the stories that
live in it. Once heard, these stories can change the way people think about that place and the city at large. These are the
stories that make up Toronto's identity, but they're kept inside of the heads of the people who live here. [murmur] brings
that important archive out onto the streets, for all to hear and experience, and is always looking for new stories to add
to it's existing locations. |

World House Project Interdesign 2007 (George Brown College - School of Design) |
The World House
Project is a multi-year, collaborative initiative led by the Institute without Boundaries (IwB) that will explore the evolution
of shelter and plan for the next generation of holistic housing design. The project will build on the research concepts of
IwB’s inaugural project, Massive Change, using the same method of interdisciplinary design innovation. The home is the
intersection between the individual and society. On one end of the spectrum, urban sprawl and monster houses consume huge
amounts of energy and pollute the atmosphere. On the other, over a billion people live in urban slums or in the streets without
shelter. The ambition of the World House Project (WHP) is to generate a system that achieves a balance between these extremes,
and operates on the principles of sustainability, universality, technological responsiveness and balance, so that we may create
dwellings that promote the long-term health of nature and human cultures.

Markham Centre (Remington Group) |
Long before gasoline
prices soared above $1 per litre, Markham residents realized that traffic congestion and marathon daily commutes were hurting
family life, the economy and the environment. They decided to re-invent Markham to find solutions to protect farmland and
precious countryside. They decided to locate residences, employment, shops and services all within walking distance of one
another. They decided to create a intimate area where people could meet all their daily needs and they called it Markham Centre.
Today, the very heart of this mixed-use downtown centre is coming to life. Downtown Markham borrows heavily from successful
urban settings around the world where squares and parks complement animated streets, and where townhomes and condos reside
in harmony with corporate offices, stores and entertainment venues. |

Shift Unlimited |
Shift Unlimited is based on the idea
of broadening high school students understanding of social change and social change centered careers. Shift will make the
concept of social change appeal to a more diverse audience by challenging the traditional notion of “social work”
and “charity” as the sole outlets for social change. Shift will push boundaries by promoting the idea that every individuals’ skills, interests, and career aspirations can be applied
in service of a social cause in a way that is empowering and relevant to them personally. For instance, someone interested
in marketing can assist the communications strategy of a social service agency, or someone with a skill for engineering can
design eco-friendly products, as just two of an unlimited number of possible examples. This broadened understanding of social
change is Shift's notion of “social innovation”.
